"The one who tells the stories rules the world." Hopi Proverb
The Ballad of the Rightful King By Genevieve Kierans
Author's Comment
The Poem
O, whither the babe, the babe that is king? O, whither the king that shall be? Far from his home, has the wee babe been ta'en To a fisher hut by the blue sea.
O, wherefore the babe, the babe that is king? Wherefore has he gone to the sea? To bide with old Bekker and Marrin his bride, To grow there in secret safety.
And what of his mother, who bore the wee king? And what of his sire, who was king before he? Most foully slain, were the king and his queen, By his own brother's foul treachery.
